Dichroic Glass - COE 90

Add interesting accents and dimension to fusing and stained glass art with dichroic glass. That's right, dichroic glass can be used in both glass disciplines. Take a look at the fish- they have dichroic accents! This picture is a detail of an entryway commissioned for an avid fisherman. Arguably, it is the dichroic glass portraying the glimmering fish that really makes this panel sing.

Dichroic Glass Explained: Dichroic glass is quite unique from other glass, because it can have multiple colors and can look quite different at times. With Dichroic glass the "Transmitted Color" is the color you will see in a transparent piece of glass when you can actually look through the glass. The "Reflected Color" is what you can see in a transparent or opaque piece of glass when the light bounces off of the surface.

Most sheets of dichroic glass are listed with their colors in a specific order: for example "Blue/Gold" would appear Blue in transmission and Gold in reflected color. If a black or opaque sheet is coated with "Blue/Gold", you will only be able to see its reflection color of gold. Please note that while we make every effort to provide accurate color images the actual colors may vary somewhat due to manufacturing tolerances.
